Before

After
DCA: How did you first become interested in flying?
Bob Joyce: My Father flew the F-86 in the Canadian Air force and worked for Transport Canada (FAA equivalent in Canada) so I was around aviation my whole life.
DCA: Did you have a career prior to coming to Delta Connection Academy, if so what did you do?
Bob Joyce: I was a professional hockey player for 13 years before attending DCA as a student
DCA: How did you select Delta Connection Academy?
Bob Joyce: After retiring from hockey I began to research an aviation career. A friend of mine that worked for Delta Air Lines told me I should check DCA, formerly known as Comair Aviation Academy. I took a tour and liked the professionalism of everyone I met and saw. I signed up a week later.
DCA: What was your experience like at Delta Connection Academy?
Bob Joyce: Very gratifying in many ways, made a lot of new friends, learned how to fly, got my first aviation job, I liked it so much I became a permanent employee and stayed full time for 6 years.
DCA: Where are you now?
Bob Joyce: I am still with DCA in a part time role. I help the Flight Standards Department with things like Standardization Class and Check Instructor Class, or anywhere else I can be of assistance. I am flying right seat in a Hawker 400 for a part 91 operation and flying a Cirrus SR22 for another part 91 operation.
DCA: Have you reached your goals? Are you where you want to be?
Bob Joyce: I have definitely reached many of the goals I had set for myself in aviation. I became a CFI, worked for DCA, and am now flying professionally for a living. Aviation is an exciting world to work in. I am continually learning and growing as a pilot and hope to keep at it for many years to come.
