The Past
In October 1989 Comair Airlines established Comair Aviation Academy, to ensure the availability of professionally trained, highly qualified pilots for its growing company. As the airline grew and prospered, so did the Academy.
In January 2000, Delta Air Lines purchased Comair and its subsidiaries, to include Comair Aviation Academy. This new venture marked an era of boundless growth and excitement for the Academy. To align with the Academy's expanding role in providing first officers to the Delta Connection carriers, the company was renamed Delta Connection Academy. Delta Connection Academy has been recognized for its professional, highly structured airline oriented flight training and an award winning safety program. As a result, graduates of the Academy are sought after by many of the industry’s premier regional carriers.
The Present
Today, Delta Connection Academy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, operates a fleet of more than 99 aircraft and has trained students from 90 different countries and placed pilots with over 30 airlines including, but not limited to, all the Delta Connection Carriers, American Eagle Airlines, and Express Jet Airlines. In addition to its main campus located at the Orlando/Sanford International Airport, the Academy is the flight-training provider for three colleges and universities across the U.S. and has a combined total enrollment of more than 750 flight students.
